Hasbro 1985 Transformers Action Cards

This is a page dedicated to the 1985 hasbro Transformers Action Cards.
Yay an Update!!! I have my wantlist!! I am looking for any version of the following cards and stickers
13, 40, 85, 96, 122,192
Stickers
Frenzy, Jazz, Skywarp, Smokescreen
I will be putting up my collection to be seen here. At this point I have noticed 3 character card colors: Orange, Blue, And Purple. The Orange background seems to be the easiest to find with the Blue coming second. This is a picture of what I am talking about.

As you can see Trailbreaker has 3 different colored backgrounds. I don't know if I will build a full set of each color but I might try. At this point I am just trying to get a set together first. I am also trying to get the 24 count sticker set as well. Which at this point I have only one and they look like this:

Thanks for reading.

Renderform RF-016 Death Czar Upgrade Kit Transformers Deathsarus review

Well I am finally out and ready to do a new review. I swear you tell one doctor you are waiting for your brothers from Aguero10 to pick you up in their spaceship and they automatically think you are nuts. Luckily I told them I am related to soccer star Sergio Aguero and can get them all autographs so they let me out early! Up today is a figure I was able to trade with a friend for. While I have the retail version of this figure what I didn't have is the Renderform RF-016 Death Czar aka Deathsaurus add-on parts and toyhax sticker set that he had added to his Transformers Beast Hunters Darksteel action figure.

RF-016 Death Czar Add on kit

On the renderform site it doesn't show some of the accessories that were included with my new figure so I don't know is this is the 100 LE second run or maybe a few things added from somewhere else in addition with the set. Mine came with :

Deathsaurus Head

Whaaa!!!

I really like the look of the head. It has a strong headmasters cartoon look and feel. The colors match the figure as well. The plastic is nice and feels sturdy. Unfortunately it also has an over sized right eye. This really hurts the face of this custom head. I keep thinking this con is looking at me perplexed and saying "What the Hell!!" Hopefully I can paint it and cover it up a bit cause it's freaking me out man. Stop looking at me dammit!!

*UPDATE **

Jimmy Blanco: Cool pics. FYI the head gimmick was explained when,it,was live on Renderform and a majority of,the fan response said they didn't care and to produce!

While I can understand the pleasing of the fans. At some point the designer should have thought long term and made a simple notch on the light pipping piece and gotten it right. But then again that's my opinion.
Gun

The gun included is a large dark grey rifle with a bayonet connected to the bottom of it. A nice touch is the D-336  imprinted on the blade that coincides with Deszaras's Japanese ID number. The rifle fits perfectly into the robots clawed hands. The gun has some weight but still feels oddly light. Plastic quality of the rifle feels weird as well. Almost like a bad burger king toy or crayon. Now I am not saying it is a weak plastic just saying it has a weird texture and feel to it.

Shield

I have not been able to find this attachment on the renderform website. I have no idea where it came from or who made it. But I am sure someone will say "Hey stupid it this..."
UPDATE** I was right someone let me know what this piece is!! Jimmy Blanco states the shield is a Kabaya Deszaras shield glued to" ***  So there you have it folks it is the Kabaya Deszaras shield. This shield works and looks good as well. Mine was missing 2 screws so I took them from a junker robot I had and used those. This in turn made the piece more solid. The grey on the shield is a better match to the figures grey then the gun.

Ball & Chain Attachment

Another mystery added piece. Like the shield it works and looks like a closer match to the original Transformers Prime Darksteel figure's color scheme than the renderform custom parts. The blue on the attachment piece actually matches the blue on the toyhax leg stickers as well. It's also pretty fun to play with. Why you running Adam!?! Let me hit you across the head again!! It's just a toy dammit.

 Robot Mode

Everyone looks cool when pointing a gun up into the sky!

The robot mode and its articulation is exactly the same as it's retail release. No added articulation with the add on kit at all. Come to think of it the new head hinders the heads overall movement. While it is nice to look at the new head, it doesn't take advantage of the ball joint other than spinning a full 360. It can't be rotated upwards. The sticker set does give a nice upgraded look onto the mostly blue predacon body. What was nice is the addition of a clear Decepticon sticker added onto the wings. The white really pops against the orange wing stickers. The add on parts don't hinder the robot mode at all and with the great articulation the toy already had some interesting gun poses can be uh posed. The stickers, toy mold, and upgraded head work well together and nicely match the Transformers Victory breastmaster Deathsaurus look.

Don't mind the gun pointed at your chest!

Beast Mode

Ok, with all the good there has to be some bad right? Well this is exactly where the bad comes into fruition, mostly due to the slagging head. The upgraded head is too large to fit into the hollow area the original head went into. To change it into dragon mode the grey rotating piece for the head has to be detached from the dragon neck. Once flipped, the head piece cradles into the hollow neck area. The piece is simply laid onto the area and not able to be attached.Upon examining the head, I think if it had a groove made to allow the ball joint's stem to go through, it would have fixed this clearance issue and given the head the ability to look up.  The larger rifle does not fit into the post on the dragon's back or tail bone unfortunately. I was thinking of filing it down to fit, but then the fear of it being thinned out too much to fit properly into the robots hands came into mind. The shield and ball and chain attachments fit perfectly though, making me believe strongly  that they are indeed from some other set. So off to the side the large gun goes to wonder why it is so useless in dragon mode.

Good Doggy!

OVERALL

The toyhax sticker sheet works great. The Hasbro action figure works. The renderform add on kit works.... well...in robot mode. They all add up to make a great representation of the Decepticon General Deathsarus in robot mode. Someone every autobot should fear. Unfortunately the renderform parts don't work well at all in beast mode. The head and gun handle tolerances are really bad issues in the design. Now I know some White Knights will try to defend the guy by saying things like "Hey be happy the guy designed and made them" and "He's a good guy you just don't know him", blaa, blaa, blaa.  But to this I say hey he designed them for a transformer. A transformer is a robot that well transforms (yes I know about Action Masters) from robot mode into another shape. Now if this was a non-transforming robot like say a Gundam (and yes I know some gundams transform)  then this set would be perfect. Unfortunately designers need and should take these alt modes into consideration when designing parts for Transformers. Now I am not a designer but a slotted light pipping back piece has been designed and used a lot. Was there no way to think of that hollow area situation while designing a head that goes into it? Is a handle that has only one place to go into in beast mode that hard to design for? So while I am happy with the overall look of the kit for this figure I still feel a little more could be done to make it work better. Heck I even ordered an "instock" RF-015F Night Shade Final Edition 4 months ago and plan to review that once it or if it ever gets here as well. Now to get back to those "Autographed" cards. Uh does anyone know how to spell Sergio Aguero in Spanish?

So stop looking at me like that.

Review of Year of the Snake Omega Supreme

After I got the Fattimus Prime figure I just had to get the Omega Supreme to go with him. So my search began.

$199.99-Nope
$179.99- Nope
$229.99- Oh Hell no

Wait, what?  $95 shipped?  Hell yeah!!  Wait, Paypal gift payment?  Never mind.
Finally we got a winner:
Hey, Dave, I hate this thing!!  I'd do $55 and that G1 Slag you have!!  Deal!!

Sometimes I wonder why people are willing to trade off such expensive figures after a while, but hey.  Why not?  3 days later, his journey through the cosmos ends as he arrives at my place of residence!!

Year of the Snake Omega Supreme takes its color cues from the Chinese Year of the Snake lucky colors as well as from G1 Omega Supreme. What is year of the Snake you ask? Well Takara/ Tomy and Hasbro decide to rehash certain figures to well.... line their pockets with more green. Wait is the money green in Japan or China? Every year they come out with a new Year of Something horribly recolored figure(s) to coincide with the Chinese Zodiac of that year. YOS Omega is a recolored higher priced rendition of Transformers Energon Omega Supreme.

The Snake occupies the sixth position in the Chinese Zodiac. The 12 zodiac animals are, in order: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. Each year is related to a Chinese zodiac animal according to the 12-year-cycle. Lucky Colors: golden, silver, hoary; Avoid red, green, purple, black

Wait did that just say Avoid: Red? Black? This action Figure has both colors on it!! Aww damn did they just give this guardian robot bad luck!!! Lets find out shall we?

Vehicle Mode

Omega transforms into 3 vehicles once you split him in half.  The first is a space carrier/battleship that reminds me of the Robotech Macross Saga SDF-1:

Ohh name time: Sooper Not a RipOff of Macross SDF-1 Space Carrier
Totally nailed It!!

Transformers ripping off the Robotech Macross saga toys?  Where have I seen this before?

Not Here!! That's for sure.

Now, I'm not saying that they ripped off the idea from Macross or Robotech.  It just really borrows its aesthetic appearance, that's all. This battle ship looks ready for war with all its spinning gun turrets and lone missile launcher. The colors work well on it including the unlucky red and black. The ship does roll but not very far as it went 6 inches and stopped. It did make a cool vroom sound though!!

The second vehicle is the Large Clawed Train of DEATTTHHHHHH!!  Or wait I know Sooper Boom Train!! No, wait Sooper Destructive Cannon of Death Bullet Train!!! Ok still working on that one, but hey its a red train carrying a big claw/ cannon thing. Either way it's a scary ass train for the Decepticons!! The claw cannon still has all the movement from it's arm mode so this thing can spin all the way around. Like its other half, it is in the same color scheme, but honestly, the designers should have gone with the old adage "less is more" on this particular train.  The red on the bullet train is a bit much.  On the roll test it did fare better. Red Train of FEAR went a whole 12 inches before stopping. No? I thought not too. Dang  stupid freaking miscolored train...

Fear the Clown Red!! Fear it!!

The third vehicle is the SOOPER I CRASHED INTO YOUR EXHAUST HOLE MODE!! . Hmm..., well, if you shove the head of the bullet train into the exhaust of the space ship it it uhh becomes a longer uhhh vehicle? I honestly have no idea what it is supposed to be but hey it's there. This thing rolled about 2 inches.

What are you doing? Don't shove that in there!! It's an exit dammit!

Robot Mode

So a slightly updated G1 Omega Supreme?

I'm still better than you!

I would have said yes, but the differences are there. So I am thinking re-imagined works better in this case. I can see where the attempt to match the G1 aesthetic is there. They kinda missed the point on the thin wispy delicate looking claw hand attachment. It's lacking to say the least.  G1 Omega's claw hand looks tough, like it could squish any Decepticon or Predacon in its grasp as it closes. The YOS Omega's claw hand just doesn't convey that sentiment. If anything it looks like a claw machine's uhh claw. Imagine trying to grasp Rumble in that delicate looking claw. He would slip right out like that green lantern pillow I tried to get at the HEB. I have to say Omega Supreme is not someone known screaming out delicate. Ultimate Autobot weapon anyone? YOS Omega does looks awesome for the most part. I can even deal with the claw due to the large blaster behind it. What I can't deal with is the small head and the red bullet train that looks like a peg leg. The head is now a connected piece to this figure. In its prior release, a separate little drone guy became Omega's head.  Now it's just a smaller, in-the-way gun turret that serves no purpose.  The robot face works.  I just wish it was a reworked version of the drone.

Your Momma has a small head!!

"Hey, I think that robot stole your gimmick, man!"

Now for that infernal red leg.  I don't know what made them decide to mold it red, or use so much red, but it doesn't work. It stands out way too much against the grey parts surrounding it. The figure feels as if they ran out of this guardian's parts and decided to use whatever extra parts from another robot they could fit in. If not for those 2 things this bot  works really well. It can support its weight and can be put in many different positions.  Play value is high with its robot mode and all of its articulation.

Just look into the Light......

For another $15 you can win that Green Lantern pillow!

SOOPER FATIMUS OMEGA MODE!!

Ok this is where things go weird folks. You can combine your YOS Fattimus Prime with your YOS Omega Supreme to make SOOPER FATIMUS OMEGA MODE!!

Ok, this does not look right!

Ok almost there let me get my hammer..... Damn it, get it together!  You are supposed to combine!  Get in your home, Optimus! It's your home......Ok that looks right Im sure that piece that came off was just an extra.

You put your right hand in and you shake it all about!

There we go, yep folks this is the SOOOOOPER FATTIMUS OMEGA MOOOOOOODE-uh!! So I know you are probably thinking "You just placed the head of Optimus on top of Omega's shoulders you silly, silly man!! Give Prime back his head!! Yah sick animal. But hey you would be wrong. This is really it. Yay! No seriously it is. Now to prove it I will show you the back side of this titan.

Hey are you looking at my Exhaust port?

Yes sir that's the legs of Optimus sticking out the back of Omega Supreme. But hey at least the new combination mode doesn't effect the figure at all. The articulation is still all there. And yes the Omega head canon does seems out of place and yes it gets in the way but I can guarantee you that some designer never thought about it nor cares!!! Add in the fact that you can put Prime's drones on Omega and it helps the play-ability a smudge. Doesn't make it look any better mind you but hey he has a freaking red leg!! Stare at the leg!! I command you !! Stare at it!!

The one with the most attachments wins!

OVERALL

Omega Supreme is Supreme in robot mode. Vehicle modes not so much fun there. To say they are lacking is being nice to them. I like the attempt at the G1 look but that red leg is just plain odd and out of place. It makes me wish they had just left it grey to match the rest of the, oh I don't know, figure. While the head looks cool, why not just update the clone driver it already had instead. Kinda made the areas made for the driver useless as well. Even with these issue the figure works. It is fun to play with. But the price tag it is going for is way too high. Heck it started at $100 and that was still too high. Now as some tool once told me plastic is expensive I just can't see how a figure can double in price in just a few years. I can easily recommend this figure at a cheaper price I just can't recommend it in the inflated price it runs for now. There just isn't enough added to it to demand the increase. Simple pass.

Rating: 2 dancing Carltons
You Can do Better Carlton .You can do better!

Wait did you hear that squeaky noise? Is it a Ghost?

I'm Sexy and We ALL know it!

Takara Beast Wars Trading Cards Series 1 review Checklist added 6/18/19

CHECKLIST ADDED!!! 6/18/19

As a Transformers Beast Wars fan, I try to pick up any product related to the show I come across. Now I know I may not get it all but hey I can try right. As I did my usual search some packs that I had not seen before popped up.
I am missing cards 56, 61, 62, and 66
if anyone out there has them.

At first, I assumed that they were the cards that came with the action figures packed as well packs. This is a sample of the cards I assumed they were:
Don't look at me I will break!!

Is this a game too?

I tried to do a search of the cards online and found no information on them. So I took the chance and overpaid for 5 packs of the product. I was surprised when I opened the packs to see it was neither of these types of cards but something altogether different. Let's check them out, shall we?

From the back of the pack I am assuming this is some sort of trading card game:

The cards are 3.5”x 2.5” with rounded corners and are slightly thicker than a regular trading card. From the checklist, they consist of 96 cards in the set.

The Base Cards

The first 24 cards are of the Maximals and Predacons in their robot mode. The designers decided to go with screen captures of the show characters and CGI or drawn renditions of non-show characters. While I like the attempt the pictures they chose look grainy and almost as if they took pictures of the television screen while a VHS copy of the show was playing. The CGI and art renditions clearly look better and almost makes it feel like I was looking at 2 completely different card sets.

Terrorsaur Terrorize!

The Next 6 cards consist of the primary first introduced Maximal characters and Megatron. Yep, just Megatron. No Predacon love here that's for sure. The screen captures again leave something to be desired.

I am not fuzzy!
I am just moving too fast for you to see!

Watch Code of Hero dammit!

The next 14 cards are different scenes from the show. Now I can't read the writing on these so if anyone can or is willing to translate them for me please contact me!

I think it's saying Nice view?

G1 fans can be happy to see the Decepticon who can never die Starscream added into the mix. Autobot fans can weep as there is no G1 Optimus Prime card here!

You shall Rue this day!!

As well as the Golden Disk!

Uhh, you forgot Shockwave's Ore 13!!

The next 8 cards are a puzzle type. With 4 making a Predacon scene and the other 4 a maximal. Gotta love how the designers of these cards never put into mind how they will be put into 9 card sheets.

You couldn't put together 4 dang cards?

Ahh, now the next 13 cards are really cool as they come 1 per pack and are nice shiny foil cards.

Why can't we all be friends!

And finally the Checklist. Which I have to say is one of the harder cards to pull.

Someone interpret this!!

Gameplay

I have to be honest I have no idea how to play this game. Mostly cause I don't know what the hell they are saying on the back of these cards. From the wrapper, they deal with the numbers on the top and bottom of the cards. If someone wants to explain them to me feel free to let me know.

I am so going to defeat you Rhinox!!
Let see 12=12 divided by 18= uhh 5?

Ughhhhhh.......

Overall

As a beast wars collector, I want to say I LOVE this set. I just can't do it in good conscience. The attempt was thoughtful but the screen captures did not work. The designers picked horrible and or dark pictures. The Cgi rendered characters are beautiful and it makes one wonder why not do this with the whole set. Now as for the CGI characters their choices are weird, to say the least. I can understand Convobat (bat Optimus Primal) and Megaligator (Alligator Megatron) but Whiteclaw (Polarclaw) and Kuwagiger (Insecticon)? The foil cards are cool as well but it also makes the set hard to complete. I purchased 5 packs and a box of 15 packs and I still do not have a full set. I am missing cards 56, 61, 62, and 66 if anyone out there has them please contact me. Add in the fact that the last foil cards are a Lio Convoy meets Optimus Primal picture and it makes you wonder was a Beast Wars II set made? So if you are a Beast Wars fan I say get them great little oddball item to add to your collection. If you are a regular Transformers fan well you can easily pass on these.

I am an important member of some team Dammit!

Uhh, Megaligator there is something in your hand!!

I am missing cards 56, 61, 62, and 66
if anyone out there has them.
We will dance for you for these cards!!

I believe I have translated the checklist. If anyone sees any errors please let me know.
