Hasbro's Transformers Prime Big Bad Toy Store Exclusive Dark Energon Megatron Review

Hey folks. Its time again for another review. Up today is Dark Matter Megatron. Whoops sorry Dark Energon Megatron. Sorry just finished watching a show about the Universe and how Dark Matter while bad is also what holds galaxies together and it was voiced by that dirty jobs guy so you know I was interested. Hmmm almost sounds like Dark Energon in a way. Just like energon is the life force of Primus/light, Dark energon is the life force of Unicron/dark. Dang show says we will dies in 500 billion years so I guess I should write this quick.

Ok, Dark Energon Megatron. In the Transformers Prime show Megatron is looking for the Life force of Unicron to power him and his army up. While it did power him up it also created zombies of the dead. So we in turn got one of our first zombie Transformers stories. Which was well the thing at the time with shows like Walking dead and comics like Marvel Zombies, Dc Black Lantern saga, and my favorite rainbow Brite vs the Zombie Purple Pieman. Which I have to say was almost as awesome as Sharknado. Well way after the fact BBTS released the BBTS Exclusive Dark Energon figures. They included repaints of voyager Prime and Megs, and deluxe Starscream, Bumblebee, Wheeljack, and Knockout. Each of these redecoed translucent bots and cons is the result of exposure to Dark Energon, which twists the mind and powers the body, eventually corrupting and destroying the user. With the Decepticons trying to use the Dark Energon to take over earth, Optimus Prime and the other Autobots are forced to expose themselves to it, so that they are able to take on the Decepticons on their own terms. Will they be able to defeat Megatron and his crew in time for Ratchet to reverse the process, flush the Dark Energon from their systems and save them from a horrid fate?

Megatron returns in a new color scheme of shades of purple, Black and a very deep blue. And I have to say I like these colors on him.

Vehicle mode:

Megatron returns in his spacecraft mode just cooler looking.

Now I do wish the light pale purple parts were a bit darker but it still works. The colors really give him a sleek menacing fighter look. Very cool indeed. As can be seen Megatron's cannon and claw can be attached to his Vehicle mode.


ROBOT MODE

Well as stated its a basic recolored Megatron figure. Now I have to say this really gives him a more evil feel to him. Even with the Light purple parts. You can add his weapons on to him to make him look even more threatening.

WEAPONS

Megatron comes with his Cannon and a claw weapon. Really does give him the Gladiator look. And thanks to his articulation it allows you to do some great poses.

The cannon does have the sword feature but unfortunately it can't be locked in place.

OVERALL

Ok now I have to say if you just pick and choose figures then this one isn't for you. For those like me Its a must have. I love cool looking repaints. I don't mind if its the same mold recolored as long as it looks cool. Now does the figure have issues, Yes it has the same weak hip ball joints. But to be honest I rather get this figure cheap now then pay triple the price later.
